Emizon 21 is designed to be easy and hassle free and we want it to stay that way. With this in mind, this section aims to share feedback from engineers in the field so that, not only can we improve our service going forward, but we can also provide installers with the benefit of learning from real experiences as they happen.
Current Tips:
1. This is a new service, and it is your first install you will need to refer to, and follow the Quick Start Guide!
2. Make sure that you allow the TCD to run through the boot up process and see "b u" followed by "b c" and then "t 1" on the user display BEFORE you move to step 3 - the software update.
3. When the software update has happened ("r r" is shown on the user display) you MUST power off the TCD to ensure this software is effective before moving to the next step of the Quick Start Quide.
4. Check you have good GPRS signal before commencing with the commisioning process. To check the signal and registration status of the modem, tap the 'Mode' button. The 7 segment display will alternate 'Gs' followed by signal strenght (EG: '16') good values are from 10 to 30. 99 indicatess no signal at all. After that the display will give 'GS' and a number (EG: '01'), this indicated the registration status of the SIM, '01' means registered. Anything else indicates a problem. The display will keep cycling through these displays for a couple minutes.
5. Be very careful with the GSM aerial connection. The socket is is very delicate. And ensure it is properly connected to the modem.
6. Do ensure that you ask your customer to complete the Customer IT Survey Form prior to your installation visit. This will save time should a problem arise.
7. If you want an easy way to connect the TCD to a router that is quite a distance from the panel, then consider using Ethernet Over Mains. This is a pair of devices that are plugged into mains socket outlets (one near the panel and one near the router) then connect patch cabled from the TCD and Router to these Ethernet Over Mains devices and you save youself having to run a cable from Panel to Router.
8. To be sure that the TCD is loaded with the very latest version, perform TWO OR MORE FIRMWARE UPDATES. REMEMBER TO POWER DOWN AFTER EACH ONE until the display on the TCD indicates "UC --" meaning updates are complete.
9. If using a Cisco Catalyst ethernet switch or router to connect the TCD, and the TCD is very slow to connect or fails to obtain a DHCP IP address, check that trunking and spanning is disabled on the port to which the TCD is connected. Information on how to do that is on the Cisco support site here.
